This Beef Bolognese is a firm Family favourite, that all of our school Children find Yummy, Filling & Healthy! It may not be traditional, but it is a great way of getting a little extra veg into your little ones.
A cheap and easy midweek meal that is quick to make and with great results.
Beef Bolognese – Serves 4
Contains: Celery, Lactose, Soya, Gluten
Ingredients
- 250g Beef mince (5% Fat if possible)
- 1 Tin chopped tomatoes.
- Tomato Paste/Puree
- 1 jar Passata
- 1 finely diced Onion (you can also use frozen)
- Finely diced/Grated Carrot
- Garlic Puree/Lazy Garlic
- 2 Diced Peppers (you can also use frozen)
- 2 diced Celery Sticks
- Dried mixed Herbs
- Fresh Basil
- 2 Beef Stock cubes
- Pasta – any variation you wish
Method
- Brown off the beef mince in a large saucepan, add onions, Celery & Carrots and fry until they soften. Add frozen mixed peppers and garlic puree – fry for another few minutes.
- Add Beef Bouillon, Tinned Tomatoes, tomato puree, Passata and mixed herbs.
- Simmer until it has thickened. You can add more beef stock and any additional seasoning to your taste; Chilli flakes are always a good addition for a different flavour.
- You may need to add a little sugar to take away the sharpness of the tomato sauce base.
- Serve with any pasta that you wish – I like tagliatelle, but spaghetti is always a winner!
- Serve with vegetables or salad and enjoy!
