Environmental Management Policy & Carbon Reduction Plan
Statement of intent
Hobbs School Catering has put the following practises in place to ensure that in-line with government targets, the UK will be NET Zero Carbon by 2050. Through a commitment to continuous environmental improvement, our aim is to ensure that the business operates in such a manner as to have minimum impact on the environment.
We are committed to;
- Reducing business Energy usage where practicable.
- As standard, offering a vegetarian or ‘plant based’ option daily; as well as the option of meat free days if requested by the Client.
- Reducing food waste.
- Sourcing environmentally responsible packaging to use in our Grab & Go offers, as well as sourcing produce that is responsibly packaged.
- Recycle suitable material and packaging, maintaining the ethos ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’.
- Creating a culture of sustainability and Eco-Friendly behaviours among staff to encourage environmental awareness.
- Adhering to the environmental practises of each School that we are in a contractual agreement with.
- Reducing the carbon footprint in the supply chain by only using produce that is frozen, ‘in-season’ or British, as well as having minimal deliveries from suppliers.
- Recycling all Cooking Oil.
- Monitoring and reviewing our systems and environmental measures regularly to ensure they are effective.
- Setting targets to ensure continuous improvement.
Our Quality Management System will ensure that the above commitments can be met
Obligations of all employees
Apart from any other specific responsibilities that have been delegated to them, all employees must;
- Act in the course of their employment with due care for the above statement of intent.
- Act in accordance with any specific Environmental policy or carbon reduction plans/practises.
- Exercise good standards and Environmental practises in the Kitchens and Head office.
- Know, and apply the procedures in respect of fire, first aid, and other emergencies
- Co-operate with the Clients, and where reasonably practicable, comply with their environmental policies/practises.
